Well spent a couple hours at the eye specialist this morning... I have a "fleck/freckle" in my left eye - always thought it was kinda cool - almost like a gold fleck implanted in my eye (I used to say that back when I was a "cool teenager".. hahah). After my regular eye exam at the beginning of November, my doc referred me to a specialist as she thought this might be like a melanoma (granted not on my skin - but can happen in the eye as well). I wasn't too worried about it - until this morning when I had to have it "seriously" checked out.
Went through the dilating, numbing, relaxing of the eyes yet again, and had some funky tests done.. I swear one of them was a mini cattle prod that he stuck in my eye.. I must say I felt nauseous a couple times, but I got through it all.
So after all was said and done, he determined that since there are no "roots" sprouting throughout my eye from this "fleck" that it's not cancerous... whew... I go for a recheck in 6 months (unless I see anything different beforehand - I must be honest and say that I never checked this "fleck" or gave it a second thought!)... and then annual exams after that.

I really couldn't have handled that. I HATE that glaucoma test they do with the puff of air, so I can't imagine having stuff shoved in my eye. It's good that your fleck hasn't grown "roots" though.
I have no problem with roots .. but definitely not in my eyes or hair! lol
